Featured Volunteer: It's Patrick!

That's right, it's Patrick. This guy has been a regular in the shop on Thursday night. He missed a night here and there- vacations, injuries, the usual. But he even showed up with his foot in a boot...and didn't even sit down on the job!

If you ask Patrick he'll probably try to convince you he was more of a 'liability' in the shop. But he's also a bit of a jokester. He definitely puts a smile on your face in the warehouse. And he's a dependable hard working mechanic who is looking to learn and improve his skill set. He's exactly the kind of volunteer we want working to save parts off non usable bikes.

And we were a little nervous about losing Patrick. There were the frequent visits to Florida. Talk of family in Florida. He was looking like a candidate who might fall into Snowbird trap. But we thought we might have a little more time to feature him as a volunteer. Alas, we moved it up a month early because we were shocked to learn last Thursday was Patrick's last day with us.

He's moving on to another organization to volunteer his time, Catholic Charities, where he will lend his expertise in the medical/legal field. And how can we argue with that!? But we will miss him around the warehouse for sure. Whenever we heard French around the corner we knew Patrick was rolling in, looking to converse a little with Taylor.

While he was with us Patrick was usually on the first workbench and he always had a bike in the stand. It may have been the same bike the whole session, but Patrick made sure he freed all the parts before recycling the frame. And if there was something he didn't know he would either ask Todd or work with another volunteer to learn the trick to beat the rust. Admittedly sometimes that's just brute strength, teamwork, or a big heavy hammer.

Au revoir et bonne chance Patrick.
